Bio

Thomas Paquette was born in Minneapolis in 1958 and graduated summa cum laude from Bemidji State University with a BFA degree in Painting in 1985. He earned his Master of Fine Art degree in Painting in 1988 on a full fellowship from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. His paintings have been the subject of several dozen solo exhibitions in prominent galleries in Chicago, Minneapolis, Philadelphia, New York City, Washington DC, and elsewhere.

Paquette was commissioned to create paintings for the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis, Queen Mary II, and the States of Minnesota, Montana, and Maine. His paintings have been selected to hang in eighteen U.S. embassies on five continents, including embassies in Amman, Athens, Brussels NATO, Moscow, Rome, St Petersburg, Santiago, Taipei, and Vienna. He is the recipient of awards and honors including visiting artist residencies at the American Academy in Rome, the Aegean Arts and Cultural Exchange (Greece), three U.S. national parks (Acadia, Yosemite, Rocky Mountain), Blue Mountain Center, and in Miami on a three-year Residency-Fellowship at the National Foundation for Advancement in the Arts. His paintings are in numerous private, corporate, and public collections, and he has lectured abroad at universities in England, Wales and Greece.

An exhibition of his paintings from the entire length of the Mississippi River, titled America’s River Re-Explored, will be on exhibit in 2018-19 as it travels between Minnesota Marine Art Museum, Watermark Art Center, and Dubuque Museum of Art.

Past solo museum exhibitions include Erie Art Museum, Evansville Museum of Art and Science, Georgia Museum of Art, Quick Center for the Arts, The Rockwell Museum, Westmoreland Museum of American Art, and Wildling Art Museum.
